Irkutsk is a city and the administrative center of Irkutsk region of Russia, and one of the largest cities in Siberia. It had a population of 623 869 according to the 2018 census. The city is located about 850 kilometers (530 miles) to the south-east of Krasnoyarsk, and about 520 kilometers (320 miles) north of Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
